Whitehead Building Services have a long standing relationship with St. David’s hospice providing both construction and building services advice along with fundraising activities.
Having worked closely with Whitehead Building Services on a number of projects over the years, they appointed us to work on their behalf to design the services systems for a new in-patient palliative care hospice.
We worked with KKE Architects and Structural Solutions structural engineers to design a low energy building which utilizes daylighting as much as possible to the fifteen patient ensuite bedrooms and gives people individual control over their room temperature. Construction was by Andrew Scott.
We optimised the design of the solar shading provided by the external “loggia” to each patient room terrace and designed a solar photovoltaic panel array to offset the electricity used by the air source heat pump heat recovery air conditioning system.
