2011 Llandegfedd Visitor Centre & Watersports Centre – Winner-2 Stage Competition
Having won the initial architectural design competition commissioned by Dwr Cymru Welsh Water we continued to work with Hall & Bednarczyk Architects and Mann Williams structural engineers to deliver these award winning buildings
Located on the shore of the reservoir the Water Sports Centre building provides a club house for the local sailing club along with changing rooms and storage. The Visitor Centre building, with its stunning zinc roof, has an upper level café with spectacular views across the reservoir and along with offices for the rangers.
We developed designs for closed loop heat pumps to provide heating and hot water to the buildings using the reservoir as the heat sync. However, technical issues with the significant changes in water level meant the installation costs became prohibitive so we changed to air source heat pumps instead.
